TIM DAVILA

My inspiration to be involved in ministry stems from those at the very beginning of my walk with Christ before my junior year of high school. God placed some very influential people before me that helped mold me for Christian service. It was their living testimony that cemented a desire to serve the Lord within the church.

I am originally from a small town in Ohio called, Geneva, located northeast of Cleveland. The town is known for it’s famous Grape Jamboree.

I attended Mt. Vernon Nazarene University from 1988-91, studying Fine Arts, I graduated from Rockford University in 1995 with my BFA in Ceramics and Fine Arts. I received my certification in Worship Arts Pastoral Tract from the Pointe Ministry School at Crosspointe Community Church in Whitewater, Wisconsin in 2016, and had taken several post graduate education courses at URock toward WRISA Certification in Teaching.

Other than leading worship at Oakhill Christian Church in Janesville, WI for 7 years and Interim Worship Pastor at Rock Valley Chapel for 18 months, the work that I did prior to ministry at Resonate and continue to do to this day is teach Spanish 1 and 2 , Fine Arts, and Physical Education 6-12th grade at Rock County Christian School in Beloit, WI. I have taught 12 years at the Elementary (half days) and 21 years at the High School. For the last 23 year I have also been a ceramic tile installer. Prior to teaching, I worked as a Surgical Assistant and Supervisor at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford for 9 years.

My favorite thing about ministry is serving and loving on people and being used to help lead people toward the throne of God.

My Favorite verse is James 1:19-20 which says:

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.

I know this may seem to be an odd favorite verse, but it has become my life verse. I asked my daughter when she was 7 to hold me accountable to the memorization of this verse. Because of this, it has helped me be an overcomer in certain areas, as well as being able to use this verse to speak into the lives of others God has put in my life.

I have a beautiful, hard-working, selfless wife, Angela and 5 young adult children: Kaley Powell (married to Matt Powell), Zander, Addison (married to Hannah Davila), Alaina, and Cameron. I am thankful that all my kids have a professed faith in Christ and are trying to work out their salvation daily. I have been blessed to be able to serve musically with my kids regularly in Worship.

I like to coach Girls’ Varsity Basketball, play table tennis, basketball, pool, and I especially like to fish.
